Pakistan women player Javeria Khan hospitalised after being hit by bouncer

Pakistan women cricketer Javeria Khan was taken to a local hospital in Chennai after being hit on lower jaw by a bouncer delivered by West Indies pacer Shamilia Connel during a World T20 match on Wednesday.
West Indies eventually won the nail-biting encounter by only 4 runs after restricting Pakistan to 99-5, chasing 104-run target set by them earlier.
“Javeria was trying to pull the ball, but misjudge and it hit her between jaw and neck,” said a source.
“She looked a bit unconscious after being hit and was immediately taken off the field and moved to hospital for precautionary scans,” said the source.
Javeria Khan was stretchered out of the ground. A team official confirmed that Javeria was stable and any serious injury, including fracture, was ruled out after CT scans.
“What we have heard from the medical staff that she’s stable and out of danger,” the official said.
She, however, added that Javeria will be kept under observation by doctors at Chennai’s Apollo hospital for another 24 hours.
It is unclear if Javeria will be allowed to travel with the team members from Chennai to New Delhi on Thursday afternoon.
